Tunnel borers are massive constructs designed for the purpose suggested by their name. Tunnel borers have a single large drill for a body supported by two legs and two arms for repositioning and clearing of smaller blockages or debris as necessary. A single tunnel borer can dig a twenty-foot-by-twenty foot tunnel through a hundred feet of solid stone in less than a minute. Though originally created to support mining or other excavation operations, tunnel borers have been used in battle as effective siege weapons to quickly shatter through enemy defensive positions or burrow under and through them. Tunnel borers have no will of their own and can only follow a limited set of instructions as determined by their creator.

A tunnel borer that is pushed beyond the limits of its capabilities runs the risk of overheating and temporarily abandoning its instructions. An overheating tunnel borer may run uncontrollably and engage in instinctual defensive measures, potentially causing massive damages and loss of life in their area.
